Helping writers turn fear into flow
“I believe writing is an act of courage and a way to find our way back to ourselves.”
I believe stories have the power to heal. They remind us who we are, where we’ve been, and what we still dare to dream. Writing has always been my way of making sense of the world: a compass when I’m lost, a conversation with the unseen, and a quiet act of resistance in a noisy world. I write to understand the human experience, and I teach to help others find their way through it too.
My own story began, as most do, with a blank page and a persistent voice whispering, “someday.” Through the years, I’ve filled that page with seven romantic suspense novels, two novellas, and a nonfiction guide for writers, Dear Someday Writer. Along the way, I discovered that my greatest joy came not only from writing my own stories, but from helping others bring theirs to life. That realization led me to teaching, and eventually to building a community for writers who need a little guidance, structure, and hope on their creative path.
Dear Someday Writer grew out of the belief that creativity is an act of wholeness. It’s not just about words on the page. Writing is about courage, connection, and giving yourself permission to be seen. Through one-on-one coaching, courses, and workshops, I help writers move past perfectionism and fear, find clarity in their stories, and build sustainable writing habits that honor both their art and their life. Together, we work from blank page to breakthrough.
I’ve spent more than a decade teaching and mentoring writers at the undergraduate and graduate levels, serving on the MFA faculty at Southern New Hampshire University and Western Colorado University, plus the MA program at the University of Denver. My creative and scholarly work explores exile, fear, trauma, and the transformative power of story. I hold an MPhil in Irish Writing from Trinity College Dublin, an MFA in Fiction from Pacific Lutheran University, and an MA in Creative Nonfiction from Regis University. My essays and short works have appeared in December Magazine, So to Speak Feminist Journal, The New Limestone Review, and Wow: Women on Writing.
Whether you’ve been writing for years or are just beginning again, I’m glad you’re here. You can find my reflections on the writing life over on my Substack, The Write Place. If you’re a writer looking for guidance, accountability, or creative momentum, explore Dear Someday Writer, where we turn fear into flow, and someday into today. You can purchase the book on Amazon. If you want to explore working with a book coach, fill out the form below to schedule an informational meeting.
