Our military family has a story to tell
As a writer and a veteran, I know the value of life writing to help manage life stressors, trauma, and emotional upheaval to improve overall wellness. See my story for more details.
The Expressive Writing Workshops allow veterans, active military, and their family members to write about their experiences. These workshops act as a tool in the mental health toolbox to be used as needed or on an ongoing basis. The workshops are based on Dr. James Pennebaker’s Writing to Heal and Josephine Jones's Sane in Pane. Participants’ work is completely private and need never be shared with others. Group support, creative writing, and pain management practices help writers process the past and envision a better future.
All 18+ military-affiliated family members, veterans, and active service members are welcome. Led by Air Force veteran Cindy Skaggs, Expressive Writing Workshops are currently closed at Mt. Carmel Veterans Services in Colorado Springs due to COVID19 social distancing rules; however, we are transition to a conference call environment in the short term on Fridays from 4-6 pm.
Sign up for the newsletter for more information and updates on changes. We'll also update you as we move to transition workshops online should the need arise with extended closures.
